 My rule is 'don't take anything to college you don't want stolen'. This may be problematic if your living in a home where people steal things from you, and you're moving out. Still, don't bring your childhood to college. If you do you'll just get drunk and barf all over it.

I avoided pink whites in college by not owning whites. I went to black socks and never looked back, because they are so much easier to keep clean. I also like to wash all my shirts in one load and all my pants in one load because it makes it simpler to put them away. 

This is less a hack and more just common knowledge, but when was that really common?

 If only it was that easy. Your college housemates may well be drug addicts or junk dorks. What we all  do know is that this is a bad idea for a lot of situations. If will work for things that don't matter like who goes first on the bong.
