 Yeah, this is a thing and it does work, but do remember that it only works if you're a very organized person. If you lose the pen or take notes with the wrong color it can really put a wrench in your study time.

 This is true. In fact, writing it down can be even better at making it memory than typing it or reading it over and over. I will also have to point out that your body will still need the nutrients to make memories and you will still need to have the time to write it down. 

However, writing everything down can really wash out the important things. You just can't remember it all.
