AQUARIUS Hammer House of Horror Playing Cards - 4 of Diamonds

The Curse of Frankenstein (1957) and Horror Of Dracula (1958) are two classic Hammer films and I guess the four is the four people depicted on the poster. There is also a stone dong ejaculating a bat on the poster but who wants to talk about that?

I don't think I've seen either of these early color productions, but I hear they are well loved. Definitely films you should pick up for your spooky season watch list.  

This is a solid playing card. 
 

AQUARIUS Hammer House of Horror Playing Cards - 3 of Diamonds

 From what I can find there is no film by this name. It is some kind of alternative to 1972's Vampire Circus which is a PG film that has nudity and violence. 

The three skulls covering the woman's boobs is what makes this a three I guess, but I would have liked a little more in terms of what this film is and when it was put out. It would have made it easier to look up.  

Vampire Circus is a top notch film to watch in October to get you in the spirit.

 This card is dedicated to "Enemy from Space" or as it was first called "Quatermass II" which is a fall of man Sci Fi horror film from the black in white era. As implied by the original title there was a Quatermass property before this and the Quatermass name is kind of a cheeky sir name for the main character who is a scientist.

This film is some classic Sci Fi which can be found on YouTube for free in the modern day. Not a bad card to play as a two two of diamonds as this is a sequel and a forgotten gem of a film.

 Here we have the back art of these Hammer House of Horror playing cards. I'm going to call it a bit busy to be honest. I'll grant that the other side is what's important but I'm having trouble picking out all these movies from the pile.

The Cards Expedriment

 I'm writing this on the 26th of September 2023 not 2021 because right now this blog is two years behind and its not my worst blog in terms of lateness. The point being that in order to get this blog back on track I need to really pump out some content and one way of doing so is what I call 'The Cards Experiment'.

The Cards Experiment is me reviewing and posting cards of three types. We have playing cards and tarot cards as well as trading cards. I guess I could add sports cards or even Uno cards to the list but why?

Well, I could start a whole blog where I review the artwork of any kind of card and it would fuel my childhood obsession with collecting things.   

I've determined that tarot cards would be the easiest thing to review with every deck having interesting cards to look at. 

Trading cards would be the most expensive and hardest because they would require research and longer shipping times as well as varying the most in price. It would take more than one blog to cover every card Topps or Upper Deck print this year but I don't care much for sports so I would need to hire someone for them. 

Finally, playing cards can be a simple as only the back art being worth mention of as complex as every card being of interest. Most packs only have a few good cards, those tending to be the face cards, with the rest looking rather normal. 

That said, this is an experiment that would only turn into other blogs if it holds water and by holds water I mean makes money. If you like this content share it with your friends.

 The best playing cards are playing cards that make every card a piece of art that somehow speaks. With this set they are more durable than other playing cards but the face cars are simple and uninspired. This set also comes in an oversized tin which is better than a paper pack but harder to store. 

These cars have their ups and downs and are an interesting concept, but but fail at what they intend to do.

They make a fine gag gift or funny addition to the college kids life but in college you won't have all that much time for cards so they're not that worth it. 

Not a bad buy but not a great one.

  I wish I rarely saw morning in college. It would have meant I got more sleep. I would also have to point out that this is also not a college hack and this is a college survival playing card set. I guess this is funny, but is it as funny as "have rich parents that want you to get a good job."? I think not.

 A digital detox can be as little as no screen an hour before bed or as much as a six month dig in some dirt hole where you will have no cell signal. I think the dig thing is out dated. It's an anthropology thing but not using a computer to take notes is a thing of the past. However, I don't know what the hack is here. It doesn't say that you should do this every now and then or before bed, which is the norm, so why?

I kind of feel like this was a project and getting it done was the top priority at this point.

 I don't know if 'hangry' can be thought of as a college hack or a hack in general. Knowing that you get angrier when your hungry is a good thing to know. It is also a good idea to say "never do anything when your mad". My old man did things when he was mad that I never forgave him for.

 Being an Adult is good advice for everyone. I have trouble with it even now. I remember I had an instructor who would say "come on everyone, play college, come to class on time". It's better advice than you would think.

 What college student in the modern day needs to be going to places where they expect a tip? This is just a load of bull! The real college hack is 'don't eat at restaurants'. I have to say this is just disappointing.

 Yeah, apples are good for you and peanut butter isn't bad. Add some ice, a shot of vodka, and a can of coconut water and you have a reasonable college breakfast. Just remember that the liquid goes in the blender first and don't get the seeds in there.

 Right, you need more people to get drunk with in that time you don't have. No, clubs didn't mean much to me in college, because I had no time and was always working. 

I guess if you have the option that would be a good idea but I don't recommend getting into places where you get drunk.
